Tonight I went to see the solo performance O No! By actor, writer and clown Jamie Wood. I wasn’t sure what to expect, mostly because a lot of the Solo performances I have seen have always been quite strange and out there, but this was no exception. It was bonkers and full of audience participation and made no sense, but I left with a huge grin on my face. In the post show discussion Jamie explained that he doesn’t care for narrative, what he is mostly interested in is the experience that his show gives the audience. That is something I would like to think more about, giving the audience an experience rather than talking at them for eight – twelve minutes. Whatever I do I want the audience to feel like they are a part of something and that they are engaging by doing. If I can get one person to leave my Solo with a grin as big as the one O No! gave me I will feel like my performance was a success.
